Buzz! Buzz! Reinforcing Student Learning Through Games

Presented by Curtis Line
Session Type: Practice

Presenting some ideas about review/reinforcement games that can be played in the classroom to help students increase their understanding of the material, improve exam grades, and succeed in the course. The buzzers that I purchased through a faculty innovation grant will be demonstrated. A practice Jeopardy-style game will be played to give faculty the opportunity to see the students’ perspective in playing the game. Student opinions of the use of the buzzers will be presented. The workshop will end with faculty discussing games that they have played in the past that have worked in their particular content areas.

  1. Curtis presented an excellent interactive workshop which utilized simple but creative techniques to engage students. He offered several examples and demonstrated through a survey analysis the effectiveness of his techniques. I plan to use several ideas that he presented.
