Setting Up For A Better Screen Capture: Flipping the Classroom

Presented by Jerry Pearson
Session Type: Practice

Screen captures are often used to flip the classroom but many times they are done poorly with technical or presentation issues that dampen or inhibit the student’s ability to learn. Some of the most common issues that arise are problems with audio, size of the video, readability of the text, playability on multiple systems, and adequate graphics. We will discuss these issues and then start with a practice activity on how to set up the audio on your computer. Then we will explore the steps to setting up for a good screen capture with Screen-Cast-O-Matic and Camtasia. Finally, we will discuss ways to make your video more appealing and how to get it to your students.

  1. I’ll be there! I’ll be setting up a hybrid course this semester for the spring, so I’m sure you can troubleshoot a lot to make the set up more efficient.
